Drain Cleaner

There can be several different causes to have to use sewer drain cleaner. From broken pipes, poor job performance of the plumbers, improper placement of lines, or even poor design. Clogged sewer drains can cause problems for everyone around them from their plumbing not working correctly to areas being backed up with waste and water.  The design and manmade flaws will make it hard for the aftermarket drain cleaners to work.

With the older construction of the sewer drain lines, there are three different types of problems that may cause a clogged sewer drain. One would be the excessive use of mortar in the original fitting of the sewer lines. Another cause could be roots from plants, shrubs or trees have grown into the lines and is blocking the flow. Another cause can be the pipe is broken. This could be caused by heavy equipment driving over them or even someone digging into them. Either new or old, broken pipes will allow foreign matter to be able to enter the sewer lines. This could easily cause a blockage.  Even the best drain pipe cleaners will have trouble against these problems.

With newer sewer drain lines, problems are often due to poor design, poor construction of materials or other events that may cause broken pipes or even poor installation of the pipes. Use of the wrong fittings or the improper design of the slope of the drain line may cause the line to become clogged.  Even the strongest liquid drain cleaners will not be able to deal with problems lke this.

If the sewer line has a clean out plug, removing the clog might be easy. After allowing any excess water to drain out of the pipe, try to insert a clean out tape. As it unrolls it is pushed into the sewer line. This should break the clog free.  Some of the drain cleaner cables may work well in this case.

There are a few things to remember. Never use your lines as a disposal for chemicals such as paint or paint thinner. Never allow things like hot wax to be poured down a drain. If you have a septic tank, have it professionally inspected every two or three years. Some areas require this inspection on a regular basis. Some professionals recommend using a non-caustic drain cleaner every six months to help keep the running lines clear.
